There is a HOT, GROUND and SWITCHED aux wire in the passengers foot well. It has 12 VDC HOT, 12 VDC Switched and GROUND. If they have never been accessed they’re going to be wrapped in black duct tape.Look in the foot well, remove the TOE BOARD, and you will see a big silver box (the BCM). The wires will be above the box to the left near the fire wall They will be orange, yellow and black. The wires are dead ended (not attached to any thing)

The YELLOW is ON when the key is in ACC or ON position and is served by Fuse 11 in the I/P fuse block..THIS IS THE ONE YOU WANT TO USE AS IT KEEPS THE F/P GAGE SENDING UNIT FROM DRAINING DOWN YOUR BATTERY WHEN THE VETTE IS NOT DRIVEN...The ORANGE is ON at all times, and is powered off Fuse 7. The BLACK is GROUND and is grounded at G202

If you want on the drivers side hookup only pull out the trunk release button and take power off the wire there. I forget which wire color it is, but use a test light with inst lights on and find it. One wire in there is constant on and one is on power when inst lights on. The gauge light will not dim however hooked into this power wire that way if thats what your wanting to do.

I think its the brown wire. The purple wire is for the dimmer circuit for that trunk button and even though it has power to it when you click inst lights on it will not light up a remote gauge for lighting. When I first wired my gauge light wire up I had to redo it as it did not work either off that purple wire. Im not at home or id take a quick look which one im wired into.

Just curious...if you had a short in the fuel pressure gauge that caused the fuse feeding the brown wire to blow, what other systems would be affected?

The trunk release button is fuse 26 but the brown wire is not associated with that fuse I dont think since it powers on when inst panel lights are turned on which might is probabkly the inst panel lighting circuit fuse.

If you want the gauge lighting to come on when you turn the lights on you will have to splice into the same circuit no matter where you do it. I put a fuse between my gauge and the spliced connection so no worries.
