There is an accessory power pigtail coiled up and somewhat hidden under the passenger kick panel. route the wire up the side, under the A-piller garnish molding (simply pull it straight out to remove), and under the windsheild trim molding (loosen it enough to slip the wire in). Mount the detector just to the left of the mirror. Works great.
The only thing I did differently was to remove the connector from the car and solder the connection to the direct power adapter instead of using the quick connect. I used heat shrink tubing on the splice instead of electrical tape.
The only thing visible is a +/- 6" long "pig tale" from the trim at the top of the windshield, it exits along side the cable that supplies power to the map lights in the mirror. I mount my V1 just to the left of the mirror, just below the tint band. It's nearly invisible in that position but I still don't leave it in the car.

I mounted mine almost the exact same way. Except I put mine to the right of the mirror, I can see it better from the driver's seat that way. Don't even have to use the remote display. I used Frank's great walk through and it was very easy to install. Only took about an hour or so.
Mirror mount works great! I have it in my 99, visor mount ( attaches to visor clip) in my 01, & just bought mirror mount for my Dodge Ram ( works perfect! ), Thanks Jim!
Just a quick update for the archive...The frankhunt.com tips are excellent. Install was a snap!
A note to future searchers, use a 12 ft. phone cable (mine was black to hide just that much easier). It's a perfect length for mounting to the left or right of the mirror. There's a little extra, but just use a twist tie to gather it up and shove it in the area behind the pasenger's toe-board.
