i upgraded to a multidisc torque converter. has anyone else here done this. if so did you have to raise your idle in you tune. if so how much?

because the people at precision industries said i needed to. i upgraded to multidisc and now when i put it into reverse or drive it goes dead until car is warmed up. this was not a problem before the converter upgrade. thanks

i copied the idle and idle airflow tables from a friend with a multidisc. it has improved. it just bogs a little now and hunts idle for a second when placed in gear , but it doesnt go dead anymore. just a little more tweaking i guess.

Really, that's kind of interesting.
I'm not a tuner but I would think since our cars are drive by wire and the PCM controls the idle speed, 600 rpm would be just that no matter what converter is in the car.
Were any other changes made to the car, like a cam?

The car should not be doing that just because of the convertor. I can understand if you have a big cam and it's not tuned...

402 with huge cam. im not a tuner either, but i have hp tuners and can play around with a few things. my tune and car has been fine. i changed to a multidisc from a single disc vigilanti converter. when i got the converter back, it doesnt wanna stay running when i put it gear. i talked with precision industries and my tuner. they both said that some changes may need to be made. the new converter is putting more of a strain on the car at idle, because the clutch discs are tighter than the single disc converter. ive got it running better now with the changes i made. my tuner said he can get it worked out when he gets back in town. thanks

Yes.
Yes you will need to make some changes. A single disk is much "looser" than a multi. I run one as well, but I'm going with a blower very soon.
