Hello from rainy Seattle. Looking for advise on what to do next. The dealer replaced the BCM 3 weeks ago on my 2000 C5 Coup due to the Gauges going crazy, Fuel, Temp, Battery went in the red, Service engine, Reduce Engine Speed, Check Tires, constant dinging. A week after the new BCM this happened again along with the window stuck down. I checked past threads on this web-site pushed the rubber housing between door and body and everything went back to normal and window went up. Dealer spent another 6 hours cleaning all grounds, 4 days later happened again. Dealer returned car with door module dis-connected to isolate problem. It has now been a week, driving everyday with no problems with Door Control Mod dis-connected. Dealer now wants to replace Door Module. Needless to say I now question anything the dealer Service folks recommend. Any advise? Thanks.
In that door accordian tube is a wire that will short to the frame causing everything that you are having. In your moving it and things either messed up or went away, you verified it. Do a simple search for Bill Curlee's posts on this offending wire and he's got some great pictures. Insulate that wire and most of your issues should be solved. Now as to why the dealer replaced the BCM..of course at your expense, I would be back there asking for some money back or have them put your original one back in there for free.
I'd ask for the original BCM back and a refund and see what they do. That problem can be fixed for the cost of a roll of electrical tape. This happened to me about 6 months ago and I've had no problems since I fixed the bare wires. See this thread: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...-gremlins.html
Thanks for the advise. I will follow up with the wire bundle my self this weekend. Already asked for the old BCM back and was told its in the trash. Will be talking to the service manager after I fix this weekend. Thanks again.
