Re: Rotors warped again....questions within (C5stein)
A friend of mine bought some rotors a while back. Here is a pic he sent me of them. I think he said they were under $500 for all 4. I am going to look into them as they seem pretty reasonably priced. :) http://corvetteforum.net/c5/rolio//rotor.jpg

I have not had good luck with OEM style Rotors. I have cracked the OEM set, OEM enhanced, now I have ruined a set of Eradispeeds. I dont even want to see another set of OEM looking brakes on my car... I am now leaning to the Dilusi Stage III.

I would like to see what you did to ruin the Eradispeeds. Did they warp? Did your pads eat em up?
Are you doing street only driving, Road racing, Auto Cross?
I drive realitively agressively and I still have the stock rotors, 40k mile and no problems. (Knock on Wood)
What Pads are you using?
I'm about to put Eradispeeds on my '99 and I am courious.
I'm Looking at the performance friction pads. They are more than the Hawks, but I've heard good things.

Well, I changed my front rotors and pads this weekend. It's a fun little project :D I put on the GM HD rotors and ceramic GM pads. Naturally, I flushed new fluid thru the lines too.
And since I did it myself, I was able to observe an interesting detail. The rotors are stamped "LF" and "RF" on the hub area. These marking are to distinguish left side and right side, because the vents in the center of the rotor are directional, for proper cooling of the rotors.
Guess what? THE DEALER PUT MINE ON BACKWARDS !!!!! They swapped the left and right rotors, so the vents were aiming the wrong frickin' way!
Perhaps this minor detail contributed to premature warping - only 4k miles after being turned? :mad
I belive you are correct, lotzahp!!! :yesnod: It's kind of neat to get in there and do your own brakes and other simple stuff. You really do learn a lot about your C5 when you do.
Personally I'm an incureable tinkerer, and an constantly inventing stuff and things that I can do to or improve on my C5. I'm sure that the dealer's inattention to detail regarding the location of the rotors was a major factor in your rotors warping. Maybe you should point out their mistake and get them to replace the rotors for FREE! Good luck.
Re: Rotors warped again....questions within (lotzahp)
Y2k Coupe, 40k miles, autocross, track. Driven hard, daily.
One instance of warped rotors. We were coming back to Tennessee from California and went through Denver on a Sunday afternoon. Bumper to bumper traffic for 2 hours. Sometimes sitting for 5-10 minutes in one spot. It was a hot day, 90+ degrees. Finally got through Denver and stopped for the night in Kansas. As soon as we stopped it started raining. The next morning, the car drove like a mule wagon. Drove the rest of the way home with the warped rotors and ordered an additional set of stock front rotors and some PFCM pads. The car had 8k miles. The pads came first so I replaced them. By the time the rotors came the warping had gone away and the car has not had warped rotors since. I still have the rotors in the box waiting for my next brake pad change.

Had mine cryotreated, they seemed to last forever, very little wear with Hawk pads and no evidence of warpage at all. The price is relatively low. If I remember correctly the shipping was more that the process. Just an option.
