Default Wheel offsets?

Looking to replace the wagon wheels on my 1998 vert. Interested in the deep dish chromes at CorvetteGarage, price of $839 seems like a good price for repros.

The rim is slightly larger than the stock, it is 17 9.5 front and 18 10.5 back. The comment on the web site is "offset same as 01-04". Apparently that means the offset is different than on my vehicle, will that affect handling in any way, or have any other affect on the vehicle?

What size tire would you put on that rim?

For an inexpensive repro, what do you think of the corvettegarage chrome wheel?

If they are stock Z06 wheel offset (54mm front, 58mm rear), they will fit perfectly.

The C5 wheels are tucked too far in compared to the wider Z06 size wheels. The Z06 wheels fit nice and flush with the fenders, which is what most aftermarket wheels strive for.

There is no other differences in the C5 years, suspension or bodywork between the (coupe/vert/Z06) models from 97-04, as far as wheel fitment is concerned, so if you'd like to see how they fit, just look at any stock Z06...they'll fit your 98 exactly the same.

For those size wheels, I'd suggest the stock Z06 tire sizes...265/40/17 front, and 295/35/18 rear.

Thanks for the reply, very helpful.

It raised 2 more questions in my mind though:
1.) Does the different tire size mess up the speedometer/odometer?
2.) Looks like there is a much more limited selection of tires in that size? Anyone have recommendations on a tire for that size(or would I be better off to get the standard size rim)?

1. Not a big difference. The 295/35/18 rears will be slightly shorter in height than the stock 275/40/18s. You'd see a 1 mph difference in speedometer reading at 60mph.

2. Refer to my posts in the thread linked below for tire size variations that will fit these wheels, as it covers exactly the same thing you are asking, and I don't feel like typing it all out again.

There are TONS of tire choices in those sizes, I'm not sure where you're looking.

Thanks!! You really seem to know your tires! I had looked on TireRack and they only had 3 choices in the front tire size. The discounttire site is down but I'll look there when it comes back online.

Thanks again for all the help!
