Default Advise on first mods

I have an 01 Coupe A4 with 135K on the clock. I'm starting to mod it and need some advise on which direction to go. The car has a Ti CB and VR CAI and other than that its stock. I think I am going to start on the drivetrain first and build a stroker for it within the next year or so.

My mods are going to have to be done in stages. Right now I have have enough for a built trans, stall converter, 3.42 gears, LTs and a tune. What stall do you guys think I should go with? Keep in mind I will be building a stroker for the car eventually but would still like to enjoy it until then and would rather not buy another stall when the new engine goes in.

I want to run FI on the forged motor but not at first because I won't have the budget for that after the engine build. So what ci engine would be best to build and what heads should I run? I am going with ECS for the FI and want to use they're blower cam when I build the motor. Also what intake should I use with the FI?

The car is not a DD and will be used mainly for street and strip.

I'm a noobie so please don't flame to hard.

Since you have the cai already, probably your next step would be a nice set of Kooks or comparable headers/X-pipe, and the 3.42s. You'll have to consider if your future 'stroker' will be better off with 1 3/4 or 1 7/8 tubes.

Number 1 is to make sure everything is in working order before starting the modification process. Thins like separating crank pulleys and such can put a damper on your fun. That being said, long tube headers to go with your CAI is a good place to start. This should include a good tune to get maximum benefit. The next step could be 3.42 gears or a stall converter or both. In my experience 3.42 gears, CAI and LT headers will get your car into the mid 12s on street tires with a decent launch. There is a CF member who has recorded a nigh 11 sec run with headers, CAI and a 2800 stall converter on drag radials. Depends on what you want. Best of luck.
