grinding noise, rear end??HELP
ok, I've had an off/on noise, sounds like it comes from the back. Usually only happens when car is cold, and turning. I usually only here it in the underground parking garage. A groan sound. Anyone have anything like that? Dealer twice (about once a year) blamed it on rear end lube not getting used enough and put some additive which seemed to help for a couple of months, but comes back.
Car isn't a dd but gets driven about 6-8k miles a year.
any ideas????

Try tighting the rear crossmember, thats what I found wrong with mine and easy to try. Checkout the #6 post

I had a similar noise on mine and thinking it was the differential on it (super high mileage) I elected to replace it with a new one. It did not solve the noise. I did see that I had some cupping on the rear tires. When I replaced them, the noise went away too. Usually when cold, turning corners and so on but also did it when getting home at night from work, going around one particular corner.
