Ram air....got to thinking
I have the Corvette Concepts Ram-Air....which is pretty similar to the Vortex systems excpet I have the K&N filter...well I was wondering what would it be like if you took the ( Box ) of the filter system and left the filter open...would you get more low end ?? Seems like bein in the box has to be kinda restrictive when it comes to low end since Ram-Air comes to life at higher speeds. Not sure if that is realistic..just seen someone else mention it and got me to think about it more.

Any input ????

I think he is refering to just putting the box on and leaving the filter off the car.

To answer the question, no, I don't think this would do any good. I don't know all the technicals about it but I think the MAF would get inconsistant readings giving you worse performance

Yikes! I hope not.

I read it as "will removing the box do any good?" The point of the box is to isolate the intake from hot underhood air. Most would agree that all of the cold air intakes are about the same performance wise. Among those, the Halltech TRIC hangs down low and doesn't have the sort of "restriction" hypothesized. I suspect you have more to lose than gain by removing the box. Very easy to check and see if it does any good though ;)

Topless Texan....you hit it my question on the spot....I doubt I am gonna try it becuz of the reason buckmaster states..since the shroud is cut to put the "lip" to hang down out of the shroud a little, that I would prolly get alot more road grime inside my engine. But..I was just thinking about it thanks for all your guys' opinions !
My bad...That I didnt make my question a little more clear, and to the point..but no Scott01c5...I wasnt gonna take the filter off....thatd be bad... :nonod:

The Vortex works so well because the cone filter acually "swirls" the air and cocentrates the air into the MAF and then the TB.The car actually "vacuums" the air into the engine. Really neat sound too you can hear it working:D.
