Does the display move up and down with the switch? If so the hud has power (and ground)to it. Maybe the dimmer switch in the cluster. Maybe a loose ribbon cable in the cluster. Could be the cluster as well.
I have my hud out as it was not dimming and very random display sometimes ALL on.
not a bad deal 1.5hrs and the unit was in hand. $350.00 from dealer.

thanks to all who offered assistance, especially lucky
131969 who steered me to the fuse box near the passenger foot well and found a mini fuse 19 worked it way loose and pushed it home and problem solved
