Default normal temp ?

what is the normal operating temp
for a 2000 c5 6 speed?

mine goes up to 225 at idle, then goes down to
205 when fans come on ...

i changed thermostat with original,flushed coolant,and
still the same..

i would like it to stay put at around 200 at idle, any advice
or what to do to keep it there.

yours is normal but I'm like you, I want it to run cooler so you need a cooler stat and then you must have the fans reprogrammed to turn on sooner. Mine runs nice and cool now. Some say if they run too cool it hurts milage but mine runs about 178 and gets 32mpg so I'm gunna say the milage thing is false.

I think it also varies with your temperature / location. For example, I live in Alaska and it stays cool here year-round. A hot day here is 70. I took my Vette out two weeks ago when it was minus 4, and my temps never got above 180. When I had the car in SoCal, it hovered around 220 on the warmer days.

hmmm,so how would i program mine to run cooler,
meaning what do i need to turn on fans sooner?
my fans turn off at around 200,
i would like to turn them on around 200 and not around
225 like oem.

true,but i still think 220 is a little warm,
200 to me would be better.

well you need something like EFI Live or HP tuners or even like a hand held programmer, not fond of those though. If you don't know anybody with tuning software then you could take your car to a tuner or the cheap way would be to send your pcm to somebody to have the fan setting changed. I know of a really good tuner that can do that for ya for pretty cheap but he isn't a vendor on here. If ya want to know his info pm me and I'll send you a link.

I have an A4 and my trans temp gets up to 220 sometimes. Very worrisome.

These cars are designed to run those hi-temps for emissions.
Install a 160* t-stat and have your fans set to come on sooner.
Also check fro trash stuck on your radiator. A clean radiator will help it run cooler.
