Steve Cole called about Powerloader!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well his admin asst. called and e mailed me...Bottom line. The PL is programmed with the most current GM software at that time. ANY UPGRADES ARE OBVIOUSLY NOT IN THERE, if you get the PCM reflashed with upgrades, there goes your PL program, if you reload PL then you have wasted your GM reflash...I guess the question is....are the upgrades by GM going to enhance more than the PL, doubt it...I did ASK Steve if he could use current software and reprogram for a charge, do not know if I will ever hear back and/or get my PL back as one forum member mentioned. If I would have had more patience, I probably would have waited for the HYPERTECH, as in years past I have used it....at least you can download and SAVE your factory program.... :( :(
Re: Steve Cole called about Powerloader!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (dogdoc)
I guess you could also try the LS1 Edit program. It is now out for several of the LS1 model years. You would just edit the PCM when needed. It uses the software in the PCM to base the changes to, so anytime GM needed to update your PCM you wouldn't have to worry. You just need to remember what "programming" changes you made that worked.
Re: Steve Cole called about Powerloader!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (ToplessTexan)
I used to have Lt1_edit when I had my 95 coupe. I talked to the carputing guys who put out the software and LS1_Edit for the '01 will not be out until late this year if it makes it out this year at all. They siad it's last on their list for model years. Steve Cole is about the only way to go now. Carputing states the cost will be around $500 for the expert edition. If it's anything like lt1_edit was, it will be worth it. :D I'm still waiting for Steve to send me my PLII, it's been a long wait so far but I do wish him well in his surgery and recovery.

Hey Now:
Thanks for the info. As I stated in an earlier post, I think I am going to wait about the GM's update. I have not noticed the trans lag after being loaded. I guess time will tell. :yesnod:

dogdoc, hi,
I just have to join your statement. My ride is A4, so obviously the HPP3 gives a lot of assisting tech-features. And when having to go back to the GM-Dealer for maintenance, storing/backloading of the factory software in the HPP3-unit, one can profit of new GM PCM-Calibrations, updated functionalities PLUS, YES PLUS the HPP3 advantages when, back at home base, you just re-load the desired HPP3 software-settings back to your missile. IMHO, both of the two worlds. So, easy going, you have the dollar and the bred (is that correct spelling?).
I just wonder, how to proceed once the PCM has to be really altered to match performance heads and camshaft: buying a second PCM? And if YES, but what's then again for some updated GM-settings....you have the wrong PCM in your car and....aaaarrrrchchchchchch......what a mess.....!
Re: Steve Cole called about Powerloader!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (dogdoc)
This question has been asked many times in the past, with many different answers....Thanx DOGDOC for getting the correct info...Considering that a bulletin was just released for "lack of power"on the 2001,and a recall just released for incorrect factory calibration on 2001's,the question will be asked again many times in the future :yesnod:

And thank-you C-5 TECH for posting the information about the TSB on the lack of power adjustment.
I just took my car in Tuesday for its first service & I specifically asked them to reflash for this change since I had just seen your post last week. They didn't really seem to know what I was talking about but finally found it. (Team Chev in Corte Madera for those Bay area people - Team doesn't suck & has a C-5 person, but I'm still looking for a great place to get stuff done. Also, it was a hoot to see a new 2002 silver Z06 on their floor, on sale where they had dropped the mark up to only $15,000 - so $66K out the door plus T&L. Their sales manager must be on crack.)
