The time has come for me to FINALLY install my nx nitrous express kit with all the goodies. They have been sitting in my garage for about 6 months, and the install is long overdue I have plenty of time to do this, so I want to do it right.
I have the instructions that came with the kit, but does anyone have a website with their own install instructions?
BTW, I was also thinking of installing the dual guage pillar. I haven't ordered the pillar or the guages yet. Any ideas on which guages I should install? Worth the money? Where can I get the pillar and the guages? Install suggestions?
Pics, tips, and any advice are appreciated!
1. you want a fuel pressure guage. This is important since the fuel pressure safety switch is a pain in the butt to get calibrated correctly.
2. The other guage is up to you. Some run N2O, some run Air/ Fuel. I mounted my N2O gauge in the center console.
Everyone I have spoke with is out of stock on the guage pod for the C5. Good luck finding one. If you find one please let me know because mine is still back ordered.
The hardest part of installing the NX kit is finding a trick location to mount your bottle and finding a good ground other than the battery. I mounted my bottle sideways attached to the passengerside removable cover. I used the fuel rail bolt as a ground.
If you have any questions please let me know and I can send you some pics.
Thanks for the tips. I have made a few calls, and you are right, they are on back order. Everytime I get the itch to buy something for the Vette, the parts are on back order...drag radials, rims, and now this. At least it gives me time to finish planning and start getting some of the install done.
If you have some pics, I'd love to see them.
on the nitrous, ICULKN has a point on the ground. i ran a dedicated ground from the battery to the area under the passenger dash where i centralized all the wiring relays, fuses, etc. I also ran a dedicated 12 Switched and 12 hot to tap from. all of these go to fuse blocks/holders. i have to say, i did take my time on the wiring. do the same....
on the gauges...i am also on backorder for the pod. i would suggest ordering from Summit Racing since they have the cheapest pod ($39 if i remember. the others like RK want $65 + $10 shipping). then on the gauges, i would get the full sweep fuel gauge and the calibrated A/F. i ordered the full sweep fuel gauge from http://www.martelbrothers.com for $190 (Autometer Ultra Lite style) and the calibrated A/F from gadgetseller.com for $90 (Autometer Ultra Lite, also). you should have a n2o pressure gauge in your kit, so, you dont need another for the pod. besides, you WILL find that wanting to make sure you have adequate fuel pressure is THE most important thing with nitrous. full sweep only, too. good luck....
Just for your info, I was at the Vette/Viper Shootout this past weekend and noticed Breathless had a 2 gauge pod out on their table for sale. Don't recall the price on it.
Thanks for the tip, Jim. My wife just went crazy with the credit card, so it'll be a few weeks before I can get an order for 2 guage pod in. With gauges, I expecting to drop $200. This car gets more and more expensive everytime I get on to the forum. :smash: :smash: :smash:
I remember seeing some very good step-by-step instructions on one of the magazine web site a while back. I think it was Corvette Fever's or Vette's site. Maybe someone can post a link.
