Hey guys I have a 99 FRC. I will be getting my new DMH cutouts in a couple of days. Where do most people install the cutout? I see that some do the install by the tranny and others have done it near the rear by the muffler. Im not sure which way to go. Any help would be nice. I have Supermaxx headers with magnaflow exhaust and X pipe and Randon tech high flow CATS. Thanks for any help. Also does the exhaust have to be dropped down to do the welding when mounted by the tranny? THANKS
I did the exact same thing. For the best possible results I would put them before the catback exhaust flanges (under the tranny). This is because if you have an aftermarket system like LG pros the exhaust flanges for the catback neck from 3 inch to 2.5 inch. For the best possible gains you would want the cutouts in the 3 inch section where they can help with any backpressure issues caused by the neck down.
Thanks guys for the help. I had them installed yesterday under the tranny and all I can say is WOWWWWWW. That is awesome. . With the LSA 111 on the cam, TSP heads, Supermaxx headers, high flow CATS and magnaflow exhaust this sounds awesome. Funnest MOD to date.
I just got mine in the mail on Friday and had been hoping the installation directions would provide a bit more detail.
Does anyone have a DIY thread with pictures? I'll have to explain the installation to the exhaust guy and just want to ensure I tell him the correct methods.
I'm putting mine in either side of the tranny because I can't weld them into my titanium catback. Is it easier to mark the installation on the two pipes and then drop the pipes out to weld on them?
Thanks,

Thanks,
Yes, I marked mine and then pulled out the pipes and finished my marking. I then took the pipes to my friend who welds. He cut out the holes and welded the new stuff on for me.

No need to drop the pipes out. The new flange can be welded from the outside on the bottom and the inside on the top. There is enough room to that without dropping the pipes.
Does anyone else have a problem finding people who can weld stainless steel? It took me a long time to fid soemone who could even weld a bung in my exhaust!
I went to four muffler shops. None of them would touch it. I went to one shade-tree garage, adn the guy there said "SURE, I can stick a bung on there. it won't look good, but nobody will see it. Oh, it may fall off in time, since I don't weld stainless!"
I finally found someone at a machine shop that did a great job for me. I just don't think they can do the cutouts, becasue they don't have a car lift!
In PA they won't pass the inspection since the exhaust system was altered even with covers. I found a Monroe shop that will do mine. Looks like I will have to buy another h-pipe to swap out at inspection time. What a PIA.
Had mine up for sale but everyone wants me to give them away……..

If you want it done nicely it pays to take that extra step of removing stuff.
As for shops that do stainless welding. I think most of your performance places can do it. I used a friend who builds valves so he did a beautiful job on the welds.
