My last HPDE was slightly marred by the car breaking up at high rpm. Upon inspection, the plugs looked fine, but the boots on a few of the passenger-side plug wires were contacting the headers and melting... good chance they were arcing. I finished out the day by short shifting, and when I got home, I set about remedying the problem. I ordered up a set of GMPP wires, and put in a new set of NGK TR6 plugs. I also ordered a 1200 degree plug wire sleeve set from Keefe Performance. There isn't much I can do about the boots contacting the headers (LG Pros), but hopefully the sleeve will give it enough protection. Here are the pics:

The GMPP wires are noticeably shorter than my old parts store brand wires. They're also beefier:

I took it for a lengthy test drive, and it pulls strong and smooth all the way to 7000rpm (uhh... professional driver, closed course

). Problem solved for now... hopefully it will stay that way. If not, I guess I'll have to pull the headers out and wrap or coat them.
