Default Has anyone done the LS6 valley conversion?

Did it solve your oil consumption problems? Is it a worthwhile mod? What all is needed in the conversion? Thanks in advance.

I think he is asking about the LS6 PCV Valley under the intake manifold. It is different from the LS1, and supposedly stops a lot of the PCV oil blow-by we experience in the LS1.

They put the PCV in the valley cover? That's where I put mine. I posted this six months ago.

got any details....I seem to be getting low oil levels between oil changes and it's not a daily driver :(

I requested this when my MMS 388 was being built. Since then I have noticed NO oil in the throttlebody or intake manifold. Not even some residue. From what I can see is it cost about $100.00. The valley cover below the intake manifold was replaced along with the PCV itself. I have considered it a worthwhile modification and have no regrets about doing it. It also makes the intake manifold look allot cleaner by plugging up the back 2 breather ports on the valve covers and eliminating some hoses. I don't know however whats involved in making the conversion. Come people have told me you have to shave a little bit of metal off a cylinder head so it fits, some people say it bolts right in. I looked and it seems like MMS just bolted it right on though.

Good Luck,
Aaron Lephart

I've done this mod on my 2000 and it has thus far stopped the oil in the throttle body problem. The mod will cost you around $100 if you get the parts at wholesale. If you have a pre-2001 block then you will have to grind or chisel (I prefer) some of the block away for the new valley pan to clear.

I wouldn't tackle this unless you have some mechanical skills and proper tools. ie...fuel line disconnect, torq spec's etc.... Otherwise the job really isn't bad and doesn't take too long.

I have C5R valve covers so they didn't have provisions for PCV. I removed the valley cover and right in the center, tapped 2 holes for
2 90° hose elbows. One goes to he fresh air inlet on the TB, the other to the PCV valve on the mfld. The valley is not open to the cam in the center section so there's no possibility of oil splash from moving parts. I expect no PCV-related oil consumption.

Hey Walt,

Have any pictures of your valve covers installed? Curious what you did with the coil packs.

Thanks,
