Default 243 Head milling

How much do you have to mill a stock 243 casting to achieve a 11:1 cr. 59cc..61cc? How much of a benefit is it to mill the heads. What size gasket also?

Thanks!

61-62cc with a .040" gasket should put you at about 11:1. That would require approx .015-.020" milling.

The benefit of more compression, simply put, is more power and torque at all RPM's. Few other engine mods can do that. Maximizing your CR for the octane gas available to you is the smart thing to do. Even with 91 octane, 11:1 should be just fine, and very well worth the small cost of the head milling.

I took around 47 thou off of mine to get 58 cc chamber, and run a stock GM MLS gasket with the .054 crushed thickness.

Just curious but what type of gain can be expected by just increasing comp. to 11:1 on an otherwise stock motor (stock cam, intake & exhaust).
