Default [NCM] VIN Auction Begins!

New Corvette Buyers Bid To Select Vehicle Identification Number

The National Corvette Museum has begun a fundraising auction that will allow the top twenty-five bidders the chance to select a specific vehicle identification number (VIN) when ordering a 2003 Corvette. The Chevrolet Motor Division is providing this unique opportunity as a fundraiser for the Museum. This unique auction has been started via the Museum’s website at: http://www.corvettemuseum.com/auction/vinauction.cgi

Bids will be received and ranked from highest to lowest bid, and the top 25 winning bids will have the opportunity to purchase a new 2003 Corvette with a VIN number selection ranging from 0041-28000. The top twenty-five bidders will be required to pay their bid to the Museum by 12:00 p.m. CT on Friday, March 15th, 2002 in order to receive their special authorization certificate. This authorization certificate can be taken to any “Corvette Authorized” Chevrolet dealer where they can place an order for a 2003 Corvette. A special RPO processing code, (Regular Production Option) designating the VIN selection will be used. Pricing is not impacted by this program, and must continue to be negotiated between the buyer (VIN holder) and Corvette dealers. The vehicle can be purchased with any model or trim level, including the 50th Anniversary models. Cars will be built in order of regular VIN manufacturing sequence.

Bids will begin at $500 each, with minimum bid increments of $100 each. Bidding will end February 28th, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. CT. All bids should be submitted via the Museum’s website. “To be able to offer new Corvette buyers the opportunity to pick their own VIN number is quite an exciting thing,” said Andy Roderick, Fundraising Coordinator. “An auction of this nature has never been offered, so we are very excited and hope this is a successful program.” For additional information on the VIN auction, please contact Andy Roderick at (800) 53-VETTE or andy@corvettemuseum.com.
