Well It went out on me... I was wonder what the heck is going on here. I did do some homework and check out other post on this forum. I know Im going to need to replace the oil pressure sensor, maybe the knock sensor since the intake manafold is off... I think I also need new intake gaskets... my question to u guys is what are the part numbers? Where is a good place to purches the parts? How much do u think it will cost? oh and its for my 2001 Corvette with 80k...
I got my BWD S4202 OPS at Advance Auto for $32. There is a new design (see the sticky at the top, I posted some pics of the new design). You can re-use the intake manifold gaskets (many do re-use them, including myself).
ok one more question... how long can you drive with that sensor bad? I had to drive about 30 miles home when it first went out..thats the oil pressure senser.
I wouldnt worry about it... Get it done as soon as you can though. Im in the same boat! Get the brass sensor like other people told me... And there are two knock sensors that I replaced last year. The total job to replace knock sensor's took me like two hours... Get a beer, and read up... Its not hard! If your taking off the intake I would change the gaskets If its your first time taking it off.... Who knows if there original.
Also I got mine a napa and pd like 35 bucks for the intake manifold gaskets last year
You don't have to replace it, but being able to monitor it is good. The level of the fluid is more important day to day. Most put it off until they have a project in the area. But, it is good learning to replace it.
I just went to Autozone, and requested part # bwd-s2402 It's the brass sensor everyone talks about... I bought it for 38.99 plus tax.... Ill do it in a few weeks.. I don't expect my motor to die... If the pumps going " YOU WILL HERE KNOCKING" I just will be more vigilant as far as that till then. Good luck, and whatever you do, do it right and don't cut a hole in your car like some people mention... Just my opinion, half as* work shouldn't be alowed no offense to anyone that did that. The intake is EASY to remove, just time consuming.
