Maybe the cable became loosen. First try cycling the parking brake (ebrake) up and down 3 times and the system MIGHT fix itself by auto tightening. If not usually on cars w/ disc brakes a separate drum brake system is used for the parking brake. You may of worn the shoes. Here is the GM service manual copy paste.

parking brake adjustment

Tools Required

J 21177-A Drum to Brake Shoe Clearance Gauge

Important

Park brake adjustment is not necessary after replacing the park brake lever or park brake cables. The park brake cables are tensioned automatically by cycling the park brake lever three times.

1. Apply and fully release the parking brake three times.
2. Verify that the parking brake lever releases completely.
3. Turn ON the ignition. Verify that the red BRAKE warning indicator lamp is off.
4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
5. Remove the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

Object Number: 177186 Size: SH
Click here for detailed picture of above image.

Important

Do not operate the park brake lever with the rear disc brake rotor(s) removed.
6. Remove the rear disc brake rotors. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement - Rear in Disc Brakes.

Object Number: 177200 Size: SH
Click here for detailed picture of above image.
7. Place the inside measurement contacts of the J 21177-A at the widest point of the drum portion of the brake rotor.
8. Tighten the set screw on the tool in order to ensure the proper measurement when removing the tool from the drum.

Object Number: 177201 Size: SH

9. Position the outside measurement contacts of the J 21177-A over the park brake shoe at the widest point.

Important

If the gap between the adjuster nut and the adjuster screw exceeds 5 mm (0.25 in) during the adjustment procedure, the park brake shoe must be replaced.
10. Adjust the park brake shoe-to-drum clearance by rotating the adjustment nut on the park brake actuator.
Specification

0.38 mm (0.015 in)
11. Install the rear brake rotors. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement - Rear in Disc Brakes.
12. Install the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
13. Apply and release the park brake lever three times .
14. Apply the park brake lever. Inspect the rotation of the rear wheels:
* The wheels should not rotate forward.
* The wheels should drag or not rotate rearward.
15. If the rear tire and wheel assemblies rotate forward or do not exhibit drag rearward, repeat the adjustment procedure.
16. Release the parking lever. Verify that the wheels rotate freely
17. Lower the vehicle

parking brake shoe replacement

1. Remove the brake rotor. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement - Rear in Disc Brakes.
2. Remove the wheel bearing/hub. Refer to Wheel Bearing/Hub Replacement - Rear in Rear Suspension.
3. Rotate the parking brake adjusting nut until all park brake shoe adjustment has been removed.
4. Remove the parking brake shoe retaining spring.

5. Remove the park brake shoe assembly by grasping the shoe and spreading slightly while pulling the shoe from the actuator assembly.

I have searched and searched for pics on doing this but to no avail. Anyone know where there are any? The one time i used my e-brake i forgot and because the sun was in my eyes and i couldn't see my display i drove it 50 miles before i noticed i had left it on. One would have thought i would have at least noticed a drag but i didn't.

I've changed my ebrake shoes... its a single shoe for each wheel. remove everything, clean everything, and then use the magic wire tire method to reinstall the retaining spring..
Ill see if I can find the thread for the magic wire tire tool.. once I removed, cleaned and lubed everything. it took me about 20 minutes to install each mono shoe.

I can add a few tips here as well, sorry no pictures..

I took three wire ties and made them into a 4 in. circle ( meaning : I took an 8 inch zip tie and put the end into the eye, leaving it a circle.

I took the M shaped.. the wire spring
and put one zip tie on the center section, then placed the spring into the backing plat clips. ( at this point , I push the clips in a bit to the backing plate to keep the spring from popping off. With the spring tight to the backing plate, I slipped a zip tie at each end of the M clip.. I fed the three zips between the hub and the Shoe, so I had three loops to grab.
The easiest way I found was to pull each end out and get them onto the shoe... ( BTW is important to close the star adjuster down as low as possible)
I cleaned off the threads of the star and then re-greased the threads .
the trick I found was, once both open ends where in place, I took a screw driver and at the same time pulled on the center zip tie pulling it away from the backing plate. I put the screw driver between the hub and the shoe and placed it on top of the spring right next to the zip tie, I then used the screw driver and a lever the pushed the spring Down and under the shoe lip and your done.. It took me 1 hour and 45 minutes to do both sides. including a complete cleaning and re-greasing and adjustment. also be careful if the bottom shoe guide falls out of the adjuster housing, there is a metal dowel known as the push rod. " Don't loose that pin. its about 1/16 dia. by about 1 inch. it sits in a pocket filled with grease. once you have the shoe tight to the backing plate you can just Cut the three loops and pull them out.
