98 auto tranny problems

98 auto tranny problems
trans runs fine through 1st and 2nd gears but will not shift out of second when you give it alot of gas in 2nd it slips instead of going into 3rd please help dont know where to start.

yeah what i was afraid off. Someone told me could be solenoid which i was hoping at 150 dollars. any idea cost of rebuild

Probably the 3-4 clutch packs are gone. Easy way to check would be to drop the tranny pan and check out fluid for debris.

yeah that is what a performance mechanic diagnosed is as quoted me 1600 dollars seem fair i quess

Don't know where you're located or how handy you are with a wrench.
There a quite a few shops that you could rebuilt it for less, if you can remove and re-install yourself.

If you know what you're doing, it's not bad, but if you have no idea, then it's best to pay someone else.
I could not really afford to mod the crap out of my vette if I did not know how to do most of the work myself.
All the quirks these vettes have can really add up.
The whole rear drive train and rear suspension has to be dropped to get the tranny out.

Not sure where you live but RPM Tranny is in Indiana and has a good reputation.
