Intake Mod. - What should I know *before* I start?
I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on the first mod for my bone stock '01 coupe. From what I've read going back throught the archived posts, the intake seems to offer the most bang for the buck on a stock LS1. It seems like the power duct offers little if any improvement on a stock engine so I'll just be doing the intake only.
I've narrowed my choice down to the Vortex rammer and will install it *after* I get a chance to do a baseline dyno run. One of the problems I had going back through the performance registry was the lack of dyno information on stock MN6 cars with only the intake mod and I want hard dyno info on the before/after result.
That said, is there anything I should know about before I start the installtion, pitfalls, gotcha's and the like?
Third, if you want to see one in person (if you haven't already) before you go down this road, shoot me an e-mail and I'll see if we can't hook up over lunch or whatever. I live out by DFW airport (Las Colinas) but I work just south of Richardson.
Lastly, I don't know if I've seen any numbers on the '01 MN6 before and after a Vortex. Much of the data I've seen is pre-'01, and there has been some suggestion that this mod is of lesser benefit on the '01, but that there is still a benefit. I can't say the SOTP for me was overwhelming, but my SOTP-meter may not be that good.
