Default Back from the dead . . . requesting build advice

After being mired in crap for almost four years and losing my old 2001 z06, I am ready to get another and need some advice on some new combos.

My old Z06 ( was just getting started modding ) had the following mods.

2001 Z06
Halltech Trap
04 Z06 Maf
220 226 581 584 114+4 XER
Asp
Would run 12.0 - 12.2 with 2.0 60 at about 114 mph.

Now I am looking to pick up a 2004 Z06 and finish what I started. I need to decide if I should build a new setup based on a LS3/ LS7 top end or stick with the LS1/LS6 fast 92mm setup and what would be involved in the LS3 / LS7 setup if I did go that route.

Here is the combo I would build with the stock LS6 short block.

Similar cam ( bit larger - less of a reverse split - open to suggestions)
Halltech Trap
ASP Pulley
Meziere Ewp
AFR Heads ( please advise )
LG Pro Long Tubes and off Road X ( stock z ti catback )
Fast 92mm with matching TB

If I stepped up to a LS3 style block , I would probably go with a katech 427 sleeved block and build on that using the new 102mm intake setup.

Additional questions:

Clutch: Is there a good clutch available that can handle the power of these setups with close to or stock driveability ?

What mods do I need to do to run a LS3 / LS7 in a 2004 Z06 ?

How much power (est) can I expect out of a LS6 5.7 with the AFR heads, LG pro long tubes and other mods listed above ( say a 226 226 581 581 114 cam )

Thanks for the advise in advance

I've got a very nice H/C FAST combo on my Z, that's been a blast, but if I could do it over, I'd buy a centri SC, or a TT system, and leave the motor alone. More overall power than an engine swap, for less money, and stock drivability.

Thanks for the reply !!

What heads / cam did you go with ? Also what rwhp / track times did you get with your setup ?

Thats one thing , I really like small cams for their driveability. I had a Stealth II in my old ta and the small 220 226 581 584 114+4 in my z06. Other than the power , they drove like stock.

I would be willing to spend money on more cubic inches in order to make the power with a mild cam and keep driveability. I am not sold on blower / turbo cars just due to weight and tuning / maintenance issues.

I do not want to step power up to the point where I am stuck with a monster POS clutch either. I really like a nice smooth clutch .
