I just picked up a very high mileage 2001 Corvette (253k miles) for a steal of a price from a middle aged guy who has owned the car since it was purchased brand new (as verified by carfax)... Of course he told me about the issues before I bought it. It seems like the transmission sometimes takes awhile to go into OD and the shifts are very loose and delayed from 1-2 and 2-3. It still holds gears fine when the TCC is locked up on cruise, except for the soft and delayed shifts. He said it has been doing this for years but I'm really not sure if this means the transmission has to be rebuild or adjusted somehow to firm up the shifts. I'm dunno how different the 4L60Es are from infancy to when they were used in the later LS1 Corvettes and Camaros. Is it possible that there is a wiring issue or programming bug in the computer causing all the shifts to be too soft, or would you think that the transmission is ready to take a dump pretty soon?
