Default LS6 intake

I was just wondering if an LS6 intake manifold part number 12561184 will fit in a C5? I know that part number is for an LS6 F-body, but I would assume they are the same. I had heard that the f-body intake has the EGR valve, is that true?

The f-body's throttle is cable driven, and I think the manifold is setup slightly different on the front because of this. The C5 has the electronic drive-by-wire system. Maybe someone will chime in that knows what they're talking about but I do know about 3-4 years ago SLP was selling the C5 LS6 intake for $400 and the F-body LS6 intake for $500 if that means anything

Thanks for the info. I knew that the f-bodies used a different throtte body, I just figured they would both just bolt up to the same manifold.. I see a lot of LS6 intakes posted on *bay and they advertise that they would work for both the vette and f-body....but is that really true?

I don't really see why they wouldn't be interchangable. If no one on the forum knows a vendor like SLP probably could tell you

Just depends on the year whether it had egr or not(f-body).

There was never an F-body with an LS6 intake and EGR stock from the factory.

98-99 F-bodies had LS1 intake and EGR.
00 F-bodies had LS1 intake without EGR (basically the same manifold that 97-00 C5's received.. be careful when buying that this is NOT what you're getting).
01-02 F-bodes received LS6 intake without EGR (same as 01+ C5's).

SLP, however, DID offer an LS6 intake modified for use with the EGR systems on 98-99 F-bodes for emissions compliance.

My 00 F body did come with an EGR. From 98 thru 00 there were egr's. From 01 up there werent.

This is correct. An LS6 intake is the same as the C5's. It was worth 15 ponies on the Fbody.

Thanks for the clarification - So, it sounds like if one had an LS6 intake on a f-body - and I can visually verify that it is an LS6 intake - that they should fit on any C5 -the same as an LS6 intake with a corvette/gm part number.

You are correct. Any LS6 intake with the last numbers being 3572 the intake came or was meant for the Z06. If the numbers are different form above, the intake was built for the Camaro's/T/A's.

Also remember that the '97-'00 manifolds used the little coolant lines that were different, and these will need to be replaced when going to the LS6 manifold. Or you can grind a bit on the underside of the LS6 manifold to accomodate the old lines.

do you know if it's possible to remove the egr components off 98-00 camaro/firebirds and then install a c5 ls6 intake? after that use hp tuners or efi live to remove the egr off the pcm?

The intakes are the same. I got an LS6 intake from my friend's C5 that made its way onto my 99 SS, and eventually on my 99 C5. It is now on someone elses C5 as I have a TPIS intake manifold. Perfect replacement!

Yes you can remove the egr Components, you just have to make sure you plug all the connections that the air pump etc connected to.

HP tuners will allow you to erase the EGR softwarer so you dont get a SES light.
