My corvette shakes slightly at idle. It also ocaisionaly has to turn over for a second before starting up. I have changed plugs and wires, and i changed the fuel filter. the fuel that came out of the old fuel filter was like mud. these did not solve the problems. Im wondering if the engine is starving for fuel so im going to check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail in the next couple days but im wondering if anyone else has any other ideas what it might be doing. There are no codes and no check engine light but "service vehicle soon" appears after it runs for a little while. I have an 02 conv. Thanks in advance
yes its a pure stock car, and i wanna believe its normal and i hope its right but it didnt start doing it till about a month or two ago, but there is no noticeable affect on power so im thinking that your right. Im hoping anyway
How many miles? Try cleaning the throttle body, the MAF sensor (with MAF sensor cleaner) and run seafoam through it? As mentioned, the LS1 will shake a little. It's not gonna idle like a Lexus
Seafoam is like Top Down cleaner. Do a search here on Seafoam, plenty of information and write ups.
To clean throttle body-remove the intake bellows- put the key in "ignition" but don't start the car. Have someone floor the gas or jam a stick between the gas and your stick. This will open up the throttle plate. Buy throttle body cleaner and spray the crap out of the throttle body. Use an old tooth brush and scrub the inside.
To clean MAF sensor- while you have the MAF off to clean the throttle body and use MAF sensor cleaner and CAREFULLY spray the elements.
I would also check your coil packs (may need an ignition analyzer). Even though you changed your wires and plugs, it is also possibe that you didn't seat the wires or you have a bad plug/wire. You may need to "burp" the rubber boots. They fit tightly and if any air gets caught in there when the car warms it can cause the connectors temporarily walk off the plug/coil pack connector. Do a search on the forum and you will find others have had plug burp problems that caused idle problems. To insure that you have no air trapped you can use a small plasric wire tie inserted in the rubber boot when installing then. After installed just pull out the wire tie.
