2001 M6 stock motor with Z06 titanium exhaust (mufflers only). 29k miles.
Developed a loud rattle that sounds like its coming from the back/bottom of the engine. Deep sounding marbles in a can. Not the normal throw-out rattle asociated with manuals.
I hear it when in 1st or 2nd gear on decel, low speed (i.e foot off the gas). Also, if I rev the motor, I hear the noise after letting off the gas and the RPMs are coming down to idle. Same noise if clutch is in or out. No codes are being recorded.
Can anyone help? Mechanical, Exhaust, Torque Tube?

Thanks.
Could be one of the cats has broken apart inside. Aside from that look for loose clamps etc.
I'm having the same issues with my 2000 A4. 21st Century Muscle Cars replaced the middle section and checked the rest of the exhaust so I'm fairly confident it's not that. I need help!

Did you replace the cats when you did the rest of this exhaust work?
Yeah, and stethescoped the whole exhaust line. The only idea they came up with was the torque tube. But they have a few other 00-01 vettes and they all had the same rattle but to a much lesser degree. They didn't seem concerned it was a catastrophic issue but they didn't identify either. No codes strong tranny etc. Still a mystery
Anyone else know what could go wrong in the torque tube to cause this noise? In researching this, it seems that torque tube issues would be heard more during acceleration instead of decel. I'm inclined to believe this is exhaust related since the sound is worst after revving and as the RPMs come down just before getting back to idle. Should I rule out any internal engine problem? I don't think its the tranny since the noise happens regardless of clutch or gear position.
I've got a similar issue. A jingle or rattle on decel. When I rev it very gently I can cause it. I mean just increasing the RPMs a coupla hundred RPMs. I've had it for 2 years on my 02 coupe and it hasn't changed.
My research indicates it might be a cat coming apart, a loose 02 sensor, or the internal tube in the h-pipe.
Went for inspection and put it up on the lift at Monro today. Confirmed the cats are bad. They rattle inside when hit gently and the tech claims that small pieces of the honeycomb are breaking up and exiting the tail pipe.
