I took the car to the track yesterday. I noticed it was making a grinding (maybe a rubbing) noise around corners. The track I went to, had a lot more hard right turns then left, but I also heard some light grinding noise on left turns.

I haven’t heard it on on-off ramps, but then again you’re not pushing as hard or compressing the springs as much. Although when I was going home after the track I made a couple of lane changes and I could hear the grinding noise when I was turning right.

Some info about the car, it’s a stock, 2003 C5Z06 with 34,000km on the clock. I’ve got Nitto NT555R2 275-17 (front) and 305-18 (rear)

Do you guys think it’s rubbing because of the wider tires or is it a wheel bearing?!

 

Okay so I took the car to the dealership and they couldn't duplicate the grinding noise. I went for a test drive with the tech and I couldn't duplicate it either.

So yesterday I went for my 2nd track day and I heard the grinding noise again. My instructor told me it might be a half shaft?!

 

Do you ever lock your steering wheel (all the way left or right)?? If you are running non-stock size rims...rims tend to grind on the front control arms if you lock the wheel.

Also, whats the ride height? Perhaps the front or rear fenders are rubbing on the tires. Are you getting wear on the tires?

if you had half-shaft problems, you wouldn't be moving very much
