Default All you NOS fanatics...HELP!!!

I went to the races yesterday and saw a couple of vettes with NOS...which of course made me want to get it also...the only aftermarket mods I have are an exhaust a soon to be intake. If I plan on getting NOS which kind would you recommend (wet or dry(what's the difference), and what brand) and do I need to strengthen anything else on the car to help it compensate for the additional power I will be getting. I appreciate any help I can get...

The best route for a nitrous newcomer is to get a complete package kit from TNT or NX. I recommend you contacting Chris from Speed Demon Motorsports for great info, competitive pricing and support after the purchase.

Our engines can take many nitrous runs without any receiving any noticeable damage if the system is setup right and the user doesn't get greedy. Now, the driveline is something else entirely...really depends on how you use it but I feel the stock parts are not good enough without a power adder...but, that's coming from my perspective...I have consistently broken driveline parts.

Dry Vs. Wet
Dry systems only deliver nitrous...which must be injected before the MAS for the PCM to adjust for the denser intake charge. These are very simple and compact setups.
Wet systems have both a nitrous and a fuel sides. The fuel side is there to handle the duties of the MAS with a calibrated jet.

Also, be warned...n2o usage can become a serious addiction :yesnod: :jester There CERTAINLY is nothing like it.

Thanks

You might also want to take a look at LS1.com
http://www.ls1.com/forums/ls1_forum_main.htm

They have a section specifically for nitrous.

I run a NX kit. You will want ALL the safety items: Window switch, Fuel Pressure guage, and full throttle switch. This will allow you to run the juice fairly safe.

A dry kit is safer than a wet, With a wet kit there is always a chace of 'puddling'. This is when the N2O an Gasoline separate in the intake runners. This usually isnt a problem in the C5 since we have short runners, but it is a concern that you should be aware of.

If you have a manual you will have to be concerned with the stock clutch not being able to hold that much power. I make 445 to the wheels on a conservative dyno on the Juice.

Have fun

A good kit with all the bells and whistles should be around $1000. Install prices vary depending on the shop

How hard is the install? I got interested in it when Crank & Chrome installed one on a Y2K Coupe. They got 120 additional HP on the rear wheel. They used a 100 shot from TNT and the install looked fairly easy. However, they did not show how they ran the hose from the engine compartment to the trunk where they kept the N20 bottle. I believe they used the wet type coz fuel/nitrous are fed separately at the intake manifold.

By the way, guys here talk about n20 bottle warmers. When are they used?
