Default Need help identifying part

I was driving home yesterday and had to brake hard when traffic suddenly stopped. Not as hard as I could but fairly hard. I felt something hit my right foot, and just figured something flew off the seat or my phone (in the cup holder) dropped, since my books in the trunk went flying around too. When I got home, I looked and found this piece laying on the floor near the gas pedal. Not sure where it came from, what it does, etc. Car seems to run fine without it...

Any ideas? Assuming it came from the panel above my feet or flew forward from under the seat somewhere. It's about 1 1/2 inches wide, plastic with a coiled heavy spring around it, and some metal contacts on the side, looks like it might plug into something and then needs to be twisted in place???

Thanks!
Scott

Probably some left over part from a previous repair.

Looks spring loaded needing to be auto returned to the default position....I see the slight index where a shaft of some sort is supposed to reside.....hmmm. Not sure at all...Doesn't remind me of a seat part....sump'n under the dash I am thinking....
Got a part number on it...GM don't install nothin' without a part number.

It is probably a GM Part. If it is, it will have some numbers in the plastic or on the unit. Should be an 8 digit part number. I could help you out if you have that.
