Default HELP-THE CAR THINKS IT'S 38 BELOW ZERO !

Here is a New One. Drove the car for the first time in a few weeks this past Sunday. It was Rolling along just Fine on the Freeway, then suddenly the Heat Started to Run. The Reading on the Exterior Temp was dropping Fast, and kept dropping to a reading of -38'. The Dual Zone Air Control System has Never Been a Problem in 32,000 Miles Until Yesterday.

Tried re-setting the Mode and got same result in each setting.

Anyone got any Tips on Trouble shooting This One? NO CODES have been set !

C5Dave,

Might need to replace the sensor. I think it may be in the right front of the car; not positive, though so maybe someone else can confirm that.

Good luck.

Yep, sounds like the outside ambient air temp sensor has gone out..

It is located under the front edge (passenger) of the radiator shroud..

It's either a bad temp sensor or a short in the wire for it. Mine did the same thing, it was a short in the wire. I took a pic of my display at -38, very strange looking.

You must have driven up to Minnesota by accident!:D Actually, it's been a really good winter...not cold (compared to normal at this time of year) and hardly any snow. It must be the sensor.
