Ford red top injector - brown plastic cap?

Ford red top injector - brown plastic cap?
Need an answer please to confirm but does the brown plastic cap stay on the spray end of the red top injector when installed? Looks to be the only thing holding the o ring. I am in the middle of switching them out now.
