Default Rearview mirror removal???

I have an '02 Z and because of a failed mod attempt, I need to now remove my review mirror to repair it. I went to the '02 Factory Service manual and it shows there is a single screw you remove to pop it right off. Well... the manual lied because there is another style where a clip appears to hold the mirror in place. Because this clip is right behind wind shield, it is nearly impossible to see let alone reach.

Could anyone out there please tell me the procedure to remove this rearview mirror. I'm wondering if perhaps there is a special GM service tool I need???

Thanks,
Matt

Mine is held on by one T20 Torx-head screw. You the original owner? Factory mirror?

I haven't heard of the rocking technique for the Electrochromatic mirror, I use a mini pry bar and depress the clip while someone outside the car guides me...

Matt, I'm really sorry you're gong through all this grief!

Either you've got a different version of the '02 service manual, or the OP looked in the wrong place in his.

I have removed a dozen or more electrochromatic mirrors and I have never gotten the rocking method to work. There is a tool that you can buy
http://www.technologylk.com/product/...tm?src=froogle

read the instructions for this tool.

I use a Craftsman 10" pry bar and can remove a mirror in less than 10 seconds

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...aftsman+prybar

Just insert the pry bar as far as you can and firmly push towards the windshield on the end of the pry bar while pulling up on the mirror and it will com off

I wasn't calling you out, I had just never heard of it and to be honest I never looked in the Service Manual...
