Jaxian, There's no EGR system on C5 Corvettes. NOx emissions are reduced solely by the catalytic converters. The AIR system is only used to reduce CO and HC emissions at start-up, and to help the cats. reach their operating their temperature faster.
That is music to my ears. Fighting with the stupid EGR system on my F/I C4 and getting it to work with the air injection system and actually pass the NOx smog check was a nightmare I just assume never repeat.
I have yet to start any serious digging into this car as I am planning a motor from scratch for it and up until it set this code its been super reliable. So the EGR was just integrated into the AIR system? I guess it probably means a lot less parts and a simpler system to work on. Of course the downside being all that aweful black sooty gunk the EGR system used to get in its passages sounds like it's in the AIR passages now. Oh well, give a little get a little. Less parts to hassle with still sounds better to me.
Now about them putting the valve behind the intake manifold? Really? They did this? /sigh. I am too lazy to walk out in the garage and look myself right now. I am going to drive it and hope it was a fluke. I so don't want to pull apart a bunch of heat fused hoses and pipes to clean them out. Heh.
