Default Torque Tube Upgrade

I have a 1998 Corvette, 6spd, factory size tires and torque tube. In the near future I intend on installing a 405HP ZO6 engine. I may occasionally drag race the car with the stock tires, no slicks or drag radials and no nitrous
When I rebuild my torque tube is it necessary to upgrade to the 12mm torque tube? Is there a difference between the GM and BMW couplers?

No, you will be fine at that power level with the stock tube. Plenty of guys, myself included are running way more power than that on the stock 10mm tube.

In my opinion there is no difference.I read a thread that stated the GM and BMW couplers were produced by the same manufacture...my original couplers were stamped made in West Germany.

Is there any upgraded or stronger 10 mm rubber couplers being produced, or should I just get the BMW couplers?

Give Mike a call about your options with torque tube bushing options at the link below on one of his threads. He will set you in the right direction as he now sells them.
