It's been awhile since I've posted here (Moving, DONE!) and am finally getting around to a cam install.. I am going with one of MTI's cam's but can't make it down their to have it installed.. who locally in the DFW metroplex is known for cam install's?? And price??
I would recommend Speedworks. We have sent many of our customers there in the past 2 years for installs and they have all came back very happy. They have a dyno-jet dyno with a wide-band 02 sensor, as well as LS1-Edit if PCM programming is needed.
They just recently became a Supporting Tuner of this forum as well!
You may also want to consider LG Motorsports. If you've seen any of the threads about the G5 package they have had great results recently with their heads/cam package - I would highly recommend them. Also they will be installing my 422 sometime soon. Give them a call at 972.272.7753, Lou is a first class act and will take care of you. http://www.lgmotorsports.com

I sent Lou an e-mail over a week ago inquiring about getting a G-5 cam installed in my car and have yet to hear from him. Oh well.

The best thing to do it just to give them a call 972.272.7753. LG has great sales people working for them. Lou doesn't strictly run an Internet business, and sometimes doesn't get to all of his email LG is a full blown professional shop with staff working their that won't drop the ball. Also I know that Lou was just in the process of moving so he probably hasn't been able to check his email.
Speedworks also can have virtually any cam combination possible custom made by Pete at CNC for specific applications. My heads and cam just came in the other day, and are specifically setup for my A4 plus high n2o shot. I actually prefer that route to an off the shelf cam as you have more flexibility in how the car will drive under normal conditions, plus custom setup for high performance, n2o, blower, turbo or whatever your combination is.
Thanks for the info. Tony(RAT) had told me Lou was in the process of moving, so it's no big deal, but I would hope he would eventually respond to my e-mail, I wrote a lot of stuff down about what I wanted, etc. Bill, I had great success with Speedworks putting on my headers, they're a top notch shop, but I'd almost prefer an 'off-the-shelf' cam, the characteristics are known both good and bad, I'm not much of a 'custom' person, I just like to go with what works and not 'experiment' if you will.
All that said, I'm at a cross-roads right now. My car is running very, very well considering the mods I have and I KNOW it's reliable and streetable, so I really don't know what to do. If I put on a cam, will my clutch hold it and, if so, for how long? Will I be able to put the power down? If not, do I need drag radials then? If I put on drag radials, will I break anything?
As you can see, I have a few questions I need answered. :D :hat
My Nitto drag radials and 2000 style 17' wheels are for sale. As for the cam, Speedworks can put whatever cam, off-the-shelf of otherwise that might suit your need/desire. Dan can go over the cam options etc. with you. My case was a little different, like a few of the other cars there, we were looking for something specific in the cam's characteristics, so we opted for a custom grind.
