I am planning to flush my C5 clutch master cylinder using the "Ranger" method. The car is a 2000 MN6 with 19,000 miles. The fluid is dirty and I'll bet never has been changed by the previous two owners so it is the DOT 3 non synthetic GM fluid.
I would like to consider refilling with Prestone DOT 4 synthetic. Any compatability problems between the standard DOT 3 and synthetic DOT 4?

Me too, my clutch fluid turned a brown color. I plan on flushing it soon, I wonder why it did that, the cap is on tight, what could cause that? I had all fluids replace when I purchased the vehicle, accept the clutch and brake fluid. I think it is time to do that after 10 years of service.
No sir, just a difference in boiling point, dot 4 being the higher rating, have at it
Change it as often as you need to in order to keep it clean. You do not want this to happen. If it gets this dirty then it can damage seals and cause leaks. Make it part of your maintenance program.
