I notice alot of people on here lower there c5 on stock bolts but i went to the big auction site and saw a set of eibach pro-kit lowering springs and was wondering is it worth it. Should i just lower the vette on stock springs or spend the extra loot to lower it.
In my opinion this would be the best route to go, depending on your budget:
cheapest to most expensive.
1. lowering on stock bolts or aftermarket bolts
2. lowering on above + revalved shocks
3. coilovers
coilovers are the *best* and will set you back 1700$ roughly + install.
revalved shocks are around 5-600 i think? and lowering bolts are around 40$ front and rears.
Ok. Think i'll go the eibach kit with aftermarket bolts... thanx
i dont know where there is any 'coil spring' you can replace without going to coilovers. vettes use a horizontal leaf spring setup. and when you go to coilovers the 'spring' is around the shock body itself and you remove the leafs.
so i dont know why eibach would make a traditional lowering spring like you would put on an fbody or anything.
in my opinion, and what i am doing, i would reccommend getting the aftermarket bolts and lowering it to suit. then taking the plunge for a coilover setup down the road.
keep in mind you'll need to get it re-aligned. which should run you close to 150$.
i saw a guy with a silver z06 post pictures of stock height/lowered on stock bolts/lowered on aftermarket bolts. should be findable with a search.
if youve got alot of speedbumps, driveways, ect in your area its something to consider on how low you go. i'd also get some front frame rolllers and side rails to protect against new ride height.
That Eibach kit that they sell on eBay looks like its some kind of springs, but its just an overpriced set of lowering bolts. Just ask the seller and you'll find out its just bolts and bushings.
Just lower it with the bolts. I lowered mine on stock bolts(said to be 3/4" front, 1" back) and it definitely looks better. These cars have a ridiculous wheel-fender gap which sucks because the actual car sits low(front air damn is about 2 inches off the ground, no real problems with clearance though).

Get an alignment afterwords when adjusting stockers?
Take the back bolts and turn them all the possible way so that no threads are showing, and then weld over the top of the nut so it doesn't turn off..... Free
Take the front air dams (3 pieces) off the car and cut about 3/4 of an inch off of them with a table saw..... Free
You will have the lowest Corvette around and hardly scrape on anything. I've had mine that way for over a year (on bumpy Canadian roads) and the only place I ever touch is on the rad brackets as I climb the curb to my driveway.
I took my C5 all the way down on stock bolts. It's as far as I would be comfortable dropping the car. I have a tricky driveway and have dragged on speed bumps with it this low.
