I'm in the process of removing my radiator and I need inputs on removal from a 02 vert with automatic.. Can I remove the trans cooler lines without draining the cooler or will I have to drain and refil the trans fluid? I've looked at the other instruction threads, but none mentions this.
Looking at the service manual, I get the impression that the lines do not have transmission fluid in them.
The manual just says ( after draining the radiator ) remove the transmission cooler lines from the radiator.
There is no reference to to a procedure for draining or filling the transmission, and if it was required, there would normally be one. ( based on my experience with the service manual )
Bill may be correct. There may just not be much fluid that comes out when the car is off. The drawings in the manual don't even show the trans cooler, and I have a MN6, so no first hand experience.
The radiator sits on the rubber mounts. The condenser and fan assembly have clips that hold them all together as a single unit. The top radiator cover is what holds everything down with 2 bolts on each end.
You will probably find it easiest to pull the rad and fan out the top as a single unit, then seperate when out. Again, not much , if any, will come out of the trans. cooling line.
