Default ball joint debacle

I need some help finding rear lower ball joints or replacement boots. I've perused through old threads and some claim that they have replaced the boot only and it can be purchased from jegs or rockauto. Jegs only lists a front lower ball joint. rockauto has a few more ball joints but I find how they list parts confusing. For instance Moog Part # K6537 says front, rear, lower for $92.79. It sounds like you get one of each or they are interchangeabe, I'm not sure which.

Does anyone have a comprehensive list of part numbers and a supplier that has all the ball joints and boots available?

I haven't recently looked at the listings or sources you mention, but one thing you may want to keep in mind. The L/F and the R/R spindles (or knuckles) are the exact same, as are the R/F and L/R. That tells me that at the very LEAST, the lower balljoint shaft diameter (and boot hole) HAS to be the same to fit through the spindle hole. Now I'm just speculating a little here that it may be very possible that the boots could also be interchangeable. The only other big variable is going to be the lower diameter of the boot where it fits around the base of the ball joint. Maybe some measuring can tell more.

With respect to the boots only, check the Energy Suspension website. They make boots.

good call on energy suspension

Now I have another question, I also need to replace my sway bar end links and bushings. I noticed energy suspension has front 23 & 26mm O.D. swaybar bushings for 97-04, and rear 19 & 22mm O.D. swaybar for 97-04. Were these different size swaybars part of a factory suspension package? I figured the larger sizes were for the Z06 but then I remembered that the Z06 didn't come out until 2001.

FYI, all 4 upper and all 4 lower ball joints are the same.

Yup, 97-99 Z51 bars are 25.4mm and 21.7mm.

Z06 is 30mm and 23.6mm.

C5 base is 23mm and 19.1mm

You may want to try Gene at http://www.gmpartshouse.com

He can get you replacement bushing and new end links all in one order.

You can get a poly ball joint boot from Vette Brakes and Parts as well.

I've done the replace the ball joint thing- went with Spicers for all uppers and lowers.
