the battery is about 2 yrs old here the codes after the ignition failed
b2732 p0420 po0430 po0650 po1571 u1040 u1096 u1064 u1016
thanks for the help
P0420 TWC System Low Efficiency Bank 1
P0430 TWC System Low Efficiency Bank 2
P0650 MIL Control Circuit
P1571 ASR Desired Torque
U1040 Loss of Communications with TCS
U1096 Loss of Communications with IPC
U1064 Loss of Communications with BCM
B1016 Loss of Communications with PCM
I was not able to find a code reference for B2732 although I would guess its in the PassKey Detection Circuits.
This all appears to point in a couple of directions. First, I think it would be prudent to send a PM to Bill Curlee about this as he's the electrical guru. Learning from him, I'm thinking about this pointing in more than one direction so I'm simply not sure. Bad iginition switch is certainly up there. Low voltage from the battery is another therefore checking the battery connections both at the battery and the starter as well as testing the static voltage itself. There are accordian tubes between the doors and there is a wire that Bill found that will short to the frame causing lots of wierd problems. Bill's got pictures of that. Also, the BCM itself in the passenger footwell, please check it for any water on it, or in it. Again, Bill's the expert. Look at the stop in the sticky section for his electrical posts. The one code about the loss of comm to the BCM, will stop it from running for sure. Hope this helps
First thing I would check is make sure your battery cables are still tight. I had this same problem and my positive cable had backed out a thread or two letting it short out at times. Mine also didn't throw any codes though so yours may be a bit worse.
I'm with Volk. Happened to me last week --- went to start the car - no power. Try a minute later, it starts right up. Happened again last night -- go to start the car - no power. Check the battery cables and the negative cable was loose. The loose connection on the battery threw all sorts of codes.
Check the easy stuff before you take it in.
