Default Fuel Gauge?

I was driving my car today to a local car meet and im on a half tank of gas, once i arrive to the meet im still on about a half tank of gas then out of no where the low fuel light comes on and my check gauges light pops up and my gas gauge is below E but i know theirs still plenty of gas in it because i just put gas in it and the light wont go off and my gas meter wont go back to where it was. What can this be a broken gas gauge? Does this often happen to c5 z06? Someone please help me out.

Default Gas guage

Howdy, yup, sounds like the gas sender. My '99 did the same thing, and I did a search on here and found what's called a "Techron cure". What it amounts to is drive your tank as empty as you can, safely, then add 2 large bottles of Techron, let it sit over night, then fill up the next morning with either Chevron, or I use Sunoco from a brand new station with new tanks and pumps. It took two times of doing this before it popped back to work and has benn fine for quite awhile now. It's cause by the sending unit getting the sulfides from exposure to air...or something like that. Try it, it worked for me.

Had sender replaced under warranty. It is sulphur in the gas. Techron will clean it up. A bottle (20 oz) is TEN TIMES as much as you get from the gas pump. Add it to an empty or low tank JUST BEFORE you fill up. Two sending units. One in each tank. I've had the guage go from almost full to zero while driving on the interstate. The next ignition cycle reads correctly. PITA to get to the senders so go with Techron.BIGHANK

"drive your tank as empty as you can; safely" before using the Techron!
Well how am I going to know its empty or almost empty until I am actually out of gas on the side of the road. After all my gauge isn't working.

Is that what they mean by a non sequitur!!!

I'm just saying

Default Techron now on sale at Advance and Autozone

Advance is $5.99 for 12 oz AutoZone $8.99 for 20 oz.
Autozone is a better buy, cheaper and you should use 20 oz in the tank
