Can I adjust the headlamp door?
My drivers side headlamp cover is not flush. It has bothered me for a long time.
Can this be adjusted by me or do I need to have the dealer adjust it?

If you want to see pictures of what is described above, check out my how-to at the following link: http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c5/stevel2/index.shtml
The how-to is to install new lights, but the same steps described above are shown as far as how to get to the white adjustment ***** that are mentioned above. As far as tools go, you'll only need a phillips screwdriver and a size 15 torx screwdriver. If you look at my how-to, the first 10 pictures will get you where you need to be, and in the 11th picture you can see the 4 white adjustment *****.
Hope that helps. :)

I recently (2 nights ago) took my passenger side headlight cover (the actual painted cover) off. There are 4 screws securing it. There's play in at least the two screws on the back side (the side closest to your engine). If you loosen those screws (possibly in addition to the other two screws, one on each side of the cover underneath the plastic cover mentioned above by DC5), you should be able to slightly adjust the position of the headlight cover relative to the surrounding body while closed. After you have it set correctly, tighten down the screws.
At the time I reinstalled the cover. I didn't realize there was play to properly adjust the cover, so I simply set it into position and screwed it back on without giving it another thought. It was only then that I realized the cover wasn't quite flush when completely closed. But, I figured it must have been that way to begin with. (I've only had the car since last week.) This morning, I noticed space around the driver's side's 2 rear screws. Tonight, I have to go back and adjust the passenger's side cover to make it flush.
If you attempt to adjust your cover in this manner, take note of two very important details...
1. When you're done tweaking the cover position, make certain that the headlight cover still has enough room to clear the body when lowered/raised.
2. There are clips/clamps behind each of the 4 cover screws. If you have to remove any of the 4 screws, be careful not to let those clips fall off. I didn't mess with them enough to see if they're completely attached, but they appeared to just be hanging loosely on the metal underneath the cover.

I was able make my passenger side headlight cover flush with the car by adjusting only the side screws that hold the cover on.
So, this is possible to do, and you don't have to completely remove the cover to do it. Only the black plastic piece that wraps around the sides of the headlight needs to be completely removed (3 screws). One last thing, the headlight cover's screws require an allen wrench.
