what is it?

O.K. I'm stupid, what is that box like unit under the alternater with what looks like brake lines going in to it? Is it part of the active handling? It periodically makes a humming noise like an electrical motor running. I thoughty the noise was from the fans but it was'nt.

It's proably the EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module) that you're describing. I believe it is part of the AH system.

Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV), EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module) is attached to it.

Thanks for the info! Is it supposed to kick on and off at times? It sounds like the fan when it does.

When you first start the car, it runs a diagnostics test and you can hear the pump for a second.
