Default intake choice question, please help!!!!!

I have an 04 coupe and a K N& N Intake on it right now. Should I go with a vararam system instead or leave the k & n? I am trying to up the performance of my car so I need to know how much better one is over the other. Please let me know. Thanks

Ten different people will give at least ten different answers.

I have a vararam on my 2000 and like it a lot. I do believe it adds horse power AT SPEED with the ram air effect. (Has been documented)

below is a good link to lots of photos

It won't add much performance at speed unless your unit pressurizes, which I've proven will not unless you modify it yourself by sealing the seams up and making sure the ducts mount to the intake mouth (in front of the air bridge) snugly. The two rubber pull tabs alone won't get the job done.

What you DO get, is some cooler air that's from outside of the car, especially at night which is nice. Other than that not much.

I have the VaraRam and their power duct. I'm on the fence about it. If I found a cheaper intake I'd have bought that instead.

I would honestly keep the one you have and look for other means of adding power. Headers, heads, cam, catback, spray, etc.

Keep what you have and cut a hole in the radiator shroud under the air filter ,and or the place next to the fog lights

Not to burst your bubble but ultimately all of them are relatively useless by their selves. When added with other significant power adders they might help.. but not alone.

i bought the z06 fog light fittings so they are open, if it wont make that much of a difference I'll just keep the K & N . I also have a Borla exhaust on there, Everyone tells me what I need is headers, a throttle body and a good tune and that will up the performance. Thanks for the input though guys. any other suggestions for more hp?
