98 Automatic Trans will not go into park..
I've had my C5 for 3 years now. This is the first time I had this problem. All other gears are fine, but I can not get it into park. I would like to try and repair it myself. Any suggestions?

Two possibilities Ignition lock out cable and park solenoid
When I disengaged the plastic tabs to raise the boot cover I also saw the cable which won't let you shift into park unless the ignition is turned OFF. If this cable is stuck or binding might be your problem.
I left my cable alone since it wasn't contributing to my problem.
Look on the current posts and see a diagram someone posted to show where the park solenoid is. If you disassemble the console and boot housing you will see both the ignition switch cable and the solenoid.

A cable that won't allow the shifter into "Park" until AFTER the ignition switch (key) is turned to "Off"?
I always shift into park BEFORE turning off the ignition. Both of my C5's work this way as well as others that I've driven.
