I have TPIS headers and was wondering if there was a way to fit an exhaust cutout. Not that cheap crap advertised in the JC Whitney catalog but something well made. Maybe Stainless Steel...
Would they go before or after the cats? Also if it was before the cats would that screw up the O2 sensors?
Would be nice to go to the track an actually SOUND like there is something under the hood. Corsa Indy's are great but nothing compares to open pipes.
The F-body guys use Flowtech cutouts. However, you would need (2) 2.5" cutouts but it would sound MEAN. Too bad they can't get the remote controlled power plates perfected yet. That'd be the ultimate. Pull up to a light, turn the **** to open both cutouts and give it a good rev :D
BTW, you'll never get a C5 to sound like an LS1 F-body unfortunately :(

Why not? Same Exact Engine...
As a matter of fact, in the sound byte link I included in my post, the F-Body (With exhaust) sounded exactly like my car does now.
Hope they sound the same with no exhaust.. :D
Gawd!!!! I'd love to mash it at a light (with cutouts) and scare the beejeezus out of a ricer!
I have done about everything to get my exhaust to sound like my brother's '00 WS6 with headers, etc to sound like his. I've tried straight pipes, no mufflers, etc. I WOULD love to have mine sound like it :(
But if you can duplicate it, heck yeah, I'm on it! :D

The only reason I can come up with is because all the F-bodies exhaust manifolds/headers merge into a single pipe via a y-pipe and then a straight pipe back to their mufflers. This is the only reason I can deduce that we can't get ours to sound the same as an F-body. Our TRUE dual setup is what is preventing us from achieving that AWESOME F-body sound :(
There are a few differences that affect the Vette's sound.
1.) Different Cam - Cams can make a monster difference in sound.
2.) Different Exhaust routing - Bends in the exhaust can cause substantual changes in the sound as the echos and reverbarations change.
3.) Dual 2.5" vs single 3". In addition to the routing, the single muffle and intermediary pipe can cause major changes to the sounds.
Darkmercury, can the cutouts be used on stock exhaust? I want a louder sound but still want to remain relatively quiet. If they do work then I will pick up a set. I am in Houston so I could pick them up.
