2000 Window just stopped working. Replaced control module still nothing. Just a clicking sound. Looked for bad fuses but couldnt find any. Switched out 20a circuit breakers but no change. Any Ideas? I have a 2002 parts car so Im up for anything I can swap
trying to take the easy way out, just reshut the door to see if that doesn't jar the window motor into working. Sounds like a short in the motor, I think pretty much all the auto part stores have the motors available refurb or new.
Like when I helped a friend when his started acting up, go ahead & get the motor since you already know you have problems. Chances are, it's not in stock & it's going to go when you most likely are headed out of town.
I just happened to have a spare. Plugged it in and it worked. Then, I figured I would give the old hammer a try. A couple of licks later the motor started working again. Does this mean the motor is going bad? Or, is this just a common problem that can resolved with a blunt instrument?
Remove the door panel and give the motor a hit, mine jams once in awhile and that gets it working again.
I didn't even remove the panel. When mine stopped working I read that some percussive maintenance might help. I turned on the key, held the window button down, and beat the fek out of the center of the door. It worked after the 8th smack.
Most of the time, the motor sticks in the up position, I think because it gets jammed up against the stops.
IF yours stuck in the down position and you already have the door panel off, I would inspect the drive cables and pulleys to make sure you do not have any frayed cables or worn pulleys.
Also, I have tested window regulators that worked when you plugged them in but not installed, and quit working once they were installed and under the load of the glass.
If you can hear the relay click in the control module, then most likely the motor is just stuck. IF you cannot hear the relay, then you may have lost power to the module.
You might want to slide the can off the motor without pulling the armature out, and see if the brushes and rotor need to be cleaned. Most of the ones I have seen did not get used enough to wear much, but sometimes there is carbon dust all over if the windows have been used a lot.
mine got stuck like that for a while (but was stuck all the way up) it made the same clicking noise til my one friend just tapped it twice as fast as he could then it started working again
