Default HELP!! Tail Light Advice Needed

For some reason my left rear turn signal lights are not functioning. What's weird is that they work perfectly fine when I push the hazard button but not at all when Im driving and need to make a left turn. The clicking noise on the inside does that rapid click click click noise and the front signal still lights up flashing faster than normal too. Does this sound like a bulb or fuse problem or something more complicated and complex. Either way I would sincerely appreciate any and all advice you could offer. Im not sure how to change the bulbs or fuses for this project either so if you think that it may be that I could definitely use some advice on how to properly service those. Thanks a million!

Did you check the tail light bulbs in the rear? Take a torx screwdriver. It's either a #10 or #15 and remove the tail lights and check the bulbs.

That hyper-flash, or faster than normal blinking, is an indication of a burned out bulb.

If your hazzard switch is working correctly along with bulbs, more than likely it's the dreaded multifunction stalk switch that has gone bad.

I ended up doing this repair not long ago. I also had a bad hazard switch and rear wiring harness to boot.

Started with checking the bulbs, two screws and remove from the back of the light.

In your case, since the hazard lights are functioning correctly, it's probably the stalk switch. The contacts get burned and no longer provide enough current to power the bulb. In my case I was getting around 4 volts instead of 12 volts.

If you're somewhat handy it's not too bad of a job to replace.

Update: so tonight I replaced the rear bulbs and was not successful in fixing my problem. Again the only thing that does not work is the left rear turn signal light flashing. It works for brakes an hazards just not when used as a left signal. Can anyone please help walk me through a troubleshooting list to help solve this. If anyone has some ideas I would love to try them. Thanks for taking the time to read and respond.

Well in that case I've got to agree with ajg1915, it's probably the stalk switch.

Hey Andrew.

Pick youself up a cheap multimeter at you local auto store for $20.

Unplug the bulb from the turn signal switch. Take the black lead from the multimeter and hook it to a ground on the chassis. Flip on your turn signal and then take the red lead and touch it to the contact spot of the bulb socket and see how many volts you're getting.

I had the same problem, ended up being stalk switch. Not sure how handy you are with a wrench but you could swap out the stalk yourself.

I would buy a new stalk, not a used one.

hm sounds like theres a fair chance it's the stalk switch but I have no idea what a stalk switch is or how to replace it. Also where to buy it. Thanks for your continued responses!

Contacts in the multifunction switch are bad in your case. Not uncommon. (The multifunction switch is the signal light arm/headlamp switch.)
