well tonight as i was cruising around i noticed my windows were fogging up i went to turn up the air with the defrost on and nothing happened, the control **** for the temperature still works as does the **** that controls the defrost-vents-floor, but i dont have any fan speed, it does blow as i am driving around but nothing at idle and it wont even turn off in the off position, does anyone have any ideas, im having alot of problems lately, thanx, Randall
I recently had a similiar problem with mine, but I have the automatic climate control. What happened was this: the sensor that reads the outside air temp and displays it on your console, shorted out and the OAT was reading 34. It was actually in the 50s and 60s. Anyway, found out that the C5 climate system really uses this reading to determine what the a/c will and will not do. At "34" degrees, it said no way to any a/c and I couldn't even get the a/c to kick on manually!!! I'm afraid this may not help you if you have manual controls.
Also, I would check the fan speeds on other functions...vent, heat, defrost. Make sure you are getting fan action on all functions that call for it. I know there are some fuses that apply to high speed settings and another that applies to low speed settings.
Good luck with your diagnostics. Hope it is something very simple. These things can be a major pain in the butt! I know...my 99 has been in the shop for more warranty fixes of goofy things than about half of the entire forum!!! But, I have a major yellow lemon in my C5...just happens to be painted navy blue! :mad :mad
yeah i thought fuses first and i looked at the fuse box at the passenger feet and all the little abreviations made me give up, can someone tell me which fuses to look at? the front and rear defrost does work but it just doesnt blow hard, nothing changes at all when i change the fan setting ****, even to the off position, so really i dont have a fan at all

badazz7800...now it really sounds like a fuse or electrical problem!!! Maybe you will get some advice about the fuse label codes. I know some are like greek! Hope it is something as simple as a fuse...get you back on the road fast and cheap! Good luck!
